Friday: FINAL UPDATE

7:00 Welcome Dinner at the Gurley Street Grille .  We now have reservations on the Patio beginning at 7:00PM.  They will put us in groups and allow us to have  separate checks.  Please be patient as the servers separate checks for us.  It will take them a little longer.   After dinner, Whiskey Row has some great country western dancing places.  Feel free to kick up your heels there, or adjourn to the Inn by the pool and enjoy each others company.

Saturday

7:30 AM - Continental breakfast at Comfort Inn

8:00 AM - Drive via Yarnell Hill to PIR

11:00 AM - Registration at Gate 5 at PIR.  Everyone must sign a waiver prior to entering through Gate 8 at the track.

This is an SCCA benefit for Phoenix Childrens Hospital, so there will be people around working on donations.

11:30 AM - Photo on PIR Race Track

Lunch is on your own while at the track.  We have been told that there will be a variety of vendors willing to sell us lunch.  I would suggest having cash with you for this meal.

1:00 PM - Car Show and Racing Ride-Alongs at PIR.  We will follow the Pace Car around the track during the afternoon break.

3:00 PM - Drive to South Mountain Park.  If you are a particularily squeamish passenger, you may want to skip the ride, but I am sure we can find a nice place for you to while away the time as the drivers and not so squeamish passengers enjoy the twists and turns on South Mountain.  We will need to be extremely careful of all bicyclists and joggers.

6:00 PM - Dinner in Tempe at Kings Fish House .  They have a varied menu, and are willing to let us have separate checks.

7:30 PM - Drive back to Prescott

9:00 PM - Arrive back at hotel in Prescott

Sunday

az-regional-sedona.jpg Sunday is Sedona Sunday, and a return trip home for most people.  After breakfast, we will start from the hotel in Prescott and drive up Mingus Mountain through the high mountain mining town of Jerome (now an art community).  We will pause for an hour or so to do a little shopping in the artisan community.  If you have never been here, it will be an enjoyable visit.  From there, we will continue into Historic Cottonwood, an often missed little town with a delightful bar and grill.  They have plenty of parking for all of our cars and a rather reasonable lunch menu.  Then we will head to the red rocks of Sedona and make the delightful ascent from Oak Creek Canyon to Flagstaff.  In Flagstaff,  we will part ways with anyone going home on the I-40 The Phoenicians and those who are spending one more night in Prescott will make the return trip to Prescott and Phoenix via the I-17.

9:00 AM - Drive to Jerome

10:00 AM - Shopping in Jerome

11:30 AM - Lunch in Cottonwood The Tavern Grille

1:30 PM - Drive up Oak Creek Canyon to Flagstaff

2:15 PM - Arrive in Flagstaff, and part ways with those heading home on I-40

3:30 PM - Arrive in Cordes Junction, and part ways with those heading home Westward.  Then drive south toward Phoenix

5:00 PM - Arrive back in Phoenix

Accommodations: We have reserved a room block at the Comfort Inn Ponderosa Pines in Prescott Arizona, two dozen Kings and Double-Queens available at $57.49 per night (30% less than their lowest online rate).  Our contact at the hotel is Jeff (the Manager), and you can book under the "GM Roadster" group rate by calling 928-778-5770 and asking for our group rate for March 20-22nd.  This rate is valid till Feb 27th after which it goes up 30% if rooms are still available, but if you want a King room, you need to book early because we have reserved every King room in the hotel and we expect those to go first (our cars only seat two people).

The hotel is located at the edge of Prescott up against the Prescott National Forest.  The address is 1290 White Spar Rd, Prescott, AZ 86303 (click for google map).

Backup Accommodations:  We are working with another hotel for backup accommodations, but so far, wen't found a decent hotel with lower rates than we have at the Comfort Inn (especially something next to the national forest).  However, once this hotel approaches sell-out, I will try to find a backup hotel.
