dsc09650.jpgWhat would you do if you had a roadster...the weather was perfect...a few clouds...some deep blue sky...and cool temperatures???  Well, drop the top and hit the road of course!  We gathered at the Starbucks on Val Vista and Baseline and were ready for our drive toward Tucson.  Our spirits were high and there was a slight breeze as we drove down toward Florence to enjoy the back country on the way to Mount Lemmon.  We made good time and found the Sonic in Tanque Verde before we drove up the mountain.  The twists and turns were delightful.  A slow going truck only slowed us down a little, but our cars and spirits soared over the mountain.  We took a drive through Summerhaven to see what changes there had been since our last visit, and then drove the 2 miles to the Summit where we went descended upon the Iron Door Restaurant.  It was in the 40's at the top of the mountain, yet we braved the cool air and the restaurant opened up the porch to let our group of 20 sit near each other.  Coffee and Hot chocolate along with a variety of other beverages were served and then came the desserts...You could have heard a pin drop as people dove into their homemade treats.

dsc09649.jpgSoon we were on our way down the mountain with a supper destination in mind.  We retraced our steps and stayed away from the freeways as we traveled Route 77 to 79 and then up Hunt Highway to San Tan Flats.  With the beautiful weather we were pretty sure we were going to have a hard time getting in, but to our delight, it was not crowded and we found three tables close together.  The outside venue gave a picnic like feel to the end of our day.  As it grew darker, our weary travelers headed home and the band began to tune up.  After listenening to "Sweet Home Alabama", we followed the rest and headed home from a wonderful ride and the best weather we have had in June!!!  Hope to see you soon,  Happy Trails...
