The weekend was about as good as it gets for top down cruising.  We had a nice leisurely drive from the valley through Wickenburg, where we stopped for some Mexican food, and then on to Kingman.  We arrived early so we decided to drive part of Sunday's route to see what it was like.  Near the beginning of some nice twisties, we stopped at a restored '20's filling station in Cool Springs.  The manager was very nice and like to talk.  From there we continued on to the summit, enjoyed the view, and then returned to Kingman.

Saturday morning started early in Seligman where about 900 cars of all makes and models lined up for a beautiful drive along Route 66.  The local residents were sitting along the route waving at the parade.  We didn't do any of the stops that the majority of the cars did and made it back to Kingman before lunch.  We spent the balance of the day looking around at all of the great cars that were on show.  Unfortunately, there were only 2 Sky's and 3 Solstice's among the record number of entries for the run.

Sunday's run was the best for me,  I like the twisties.  When we passed the filling station they were lined up to take pictures.  I am so glad we had already taken the time to do that.  Oatman was a lovely town with wild burrows walking through the streets.  We stopped there for about an hour as did most of the group.  We continued on to Topock where the run ended.  We met couples from Oregon and some from countries outside of the U.S.A.  People come come from everywhere just to make this run.  It was a delightful weekend that was run by the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona.  Maybe you can join us next year.  Happy Trails
