dsc09420.jpgThin light clouds drifted throuth the air. Barely any cars on the road.  Cool crisp January morning.  An enthusiastic group of people assembled behind the car wash on Ray road at  10AM Friday morning.  A few had gotten "bad ice" the night before, but all were in good spirits and ready for a run.  We headed out for Tucson and had a relaxing drive on the way down.  Mark and Sherry made sure that all nine of the cars stayed together.  We had lunch at Sonic and were quickly on our way out to Gates Pass.

We found spots to park all together and enjoyed the beauty of the view landscape surrounding the area.  It was a perfect place for a photo opportunity.  Soon we wended our way through Gates pass and out to route 86 toward Kitt Peak.

dsc09427.jpgThe magical beauty of New Years Day means a distinct lack of traffic on the road.  We enjoyed the ride to the top of Kitt Peak only catching a little gravel on the way.  Some saw snow, but the weather was beautiful.  The wind was calm and the sun warmed you up immediately.  We drove up the mountain top down and enjoyed the wind in our hair.  We could not have asked for a better day.

On the way down we stopped is several pull outs for some excellent shots of the cars.  It is always refreshing to stop the car, climb out and engage in scintillating conversation with our friends.  The bottom of the hill came all too soon, but our spirits were still at the top of Kitt Peak, at the observatory.  We stayed together well and got split up by the lights in South Tucson as we were headed to the restaurant.  After a short break for gasoline, we were all together as we rounded the corner and arrived at our destination for dinner.  The Silver Saddle Steakhouse had us set up in a flash.  The meal was fantastic, the conversation was lively and entertaining.  YOU should have been there!!!  Until we meet again...Happy Trails....[MORE PICS]
