FRI 11/12 - ARRIVAL - Many folks will arrive on November 13th,
Friday afternoon. If you are arriving after 7:00PM, please let your
hotel know (many of the smaller motels do NOT have evening staff, so
they will leave your key for you). When you arrive, explore the town on
your own. Discover Big Nose Kate's and the Crystal
Palace. Have your pictures taken in western wear at Sadie Jo's Old west
Photo Studio. Relax, meet old friends and make some new ones. The
Clanton's will be in town this weekend as it is their annual pilgrimage
to Tombstone as well, and their events are open to everyone. We understand that the Choir Boys (retired mortorcycle police officers) will be in town as well.
FRI 11/12- 7:00 PM - DINNER - We will be dining at Johnny Ringo's Bar and The Depot Steakhouse located at 60 South 10th Street in Tombstone AZ. We have reservations and they will be offering our group a special on their Rib Eye dinner for $16.00. You may order anything else off the menu. Bring your room key as they offer 10% off for people staying in the vicinity. You may want to check with your hotel to ensure that this is true of each hotel. Be sure to
come hungry!! We will be delivering the 2010 Tombstone T-shirts at
dinner. The T-shirts are still under design and we will send you and order form as soon as theyare ready to be ordered. After dinner we will be staying at Johnny Ringo's for our Poker Tournament, and for those not ready to play poker, you may wish to play different kinds of card games or even Mexican Train with dominoes.
SAT 11/13 -7:00A-1:00PM - CAR SHOW - Saturday morning will dawn early as
we plan to park our cars on the street at 7:00AM. Cars will be judged
and awards given at High Noon. You need to stay in the vicinity, and the cars must be off the street by 1:00 PM.
SAT 11/13 1:00PM For those who choose to stay in Tombstone, lunch will be on your own. Continue to
explore Tombstone, or take a drive out to Kartchner Caverns. (some of the caves are closed this year due to Bat Research) If you choose to "hang out"
in the Tombstone area, you might check into the Fairbank Ghost town
located at 2679 N. Old Fairbank Road at Hwy 82 eight miles west of
Tombstone. Perhaps you would enjoy a trip to the Boothill Graveyard to
look at all of the old tombstones still there. The OK Corral has "The
Main Event" at 3rd street and Allen. This will show the gunfight at the
OK Corral from the Clanton's perspective. Tombstone Courthouse Historic
Park might be a nice way to while away the hours for a minimal fee of
$4.00. The Tombstone Epitaph Museum or the Bird Cage Theater Museum are
also delightful alternatives for the afternoon.
Sat 11/13 1:00PM - Vines and Wines Ride - Arizona wines have recently fared very well in some blind professional tastings and the Elgin area is one of the best for wine in our state. You will have the opportunity to drive a beautiful road on the way to three family owned vineyards, beginning with the Village of Elgin Winery . There you will obtain your glass to be used at the other two wineries...the glass says something like "Elgin sells wine; Napa sells auto parts". We will move on to the Keif-Joshua winery and end at the Callaghan Vineyards in time to drive carefully back to Tombstone well before the BBQ dinner. Tastings at each winery run between $3.00-$5.00 for 4-9 different wines.
SAT 11/13 6:00PM - DINNER - We will be having our traditional
Tombstone BBQ at the Trail Riders Inn Saturday night beginning at
6:00PM. The cost is $12.00 per person. There is always plenty to eat,
so come hungry! Be sure to find Debbie at the car show to pay for your
meal. We will be having a tequila tasting after dinner, so be sure to bring your favorite bottle of tequila to share.
SAT 11/13 10:30 - Ghost Walk??? We have as yet been unable to determine whether the Clanton's will be in town the same week we are. They have two different weekends posted on their website. We will keep you posted as the date draws nearer.
SUN 11/14 10:00 AM - BREAKFAST - We will gather at The Longhorn restaurant for our Happy Trails breakfast. After breakfast we will be parting ways, so as always, have a
safe and uneventful trip home.....Happy Trails!!!
